Please note that placement into our school is strictly by Audition and for older applicants over the age of 13 years it should only be considered by students willing to train and are perhaps considering a career in Performing Arts - having said this - we are looking for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels as there are places within our school for those with little or no experience to those who would be best placed in our advanced classes. This school is not a drama club. Places are limited and are held by dedicated and focused individuals. If you would like to be part of our very successful and prestigious private Performing Arts Academy (which is on track to becoming one of the most credible part time performing arts academies in the country) as well as our Casting Agency then call our office or email us with your details and we will forward you an Application Form & a Prospectus by post.

You can collect your Audition Form at the Open Audition Day and complete it while you are waiting for your name to be called. If you have one, please bring with you a recent snapshot of yourself (we can take your photograph on the day if you do not have one). This form & photograph should be brought with you into your Audition along with the audition fee of £5.00.

Please note - photographs given cannot be returned to the applicant.

Applicants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement (no denims or skirts). Hair should be neatly tied back (where appropriate) and applicants should not wear jewellery. Applicants should wear only soft shoes (dance shoes or trainers).

Primary 1 through to Primary 4 Age Groups
Applicants aged from Primary 1 through to Primary 4 do not have to prepare for this Audition as we will see them in a small group and do a 20-30 minute workshop with them where they will be assessed for placement on how they interact with others, how they take direction and how they respond to the overall audition workshop process. This workshop will include some Acting exercises, Singing and Movement.

Primary 5 – Primary 7 Applicants
Applicants aged from Primary 5 through to Primary 7 will also be involved in group work however; they must also each bring a small prop that will be included in their acting workshop. This group will also cover a Movement Class with our Choreographer to assess ability (beginner, intermediate or advanced) and go through some exercises with our Vocal Coach. All students of this age group will be expected to show what level there vocal ability is currently at. It is advisable, if the applicant is a strong singer, that they prepare a verse and chorus of any song of their choice. We also encourage applicants to provide us with sheet music for their choice of song where possible.

All High School Aged Applicants
Applicants aged S1 through to S6 would also be expected to either:

1. Prepare a short drama piece (approx 1 minute long)

2. Bring along a small prop and in your own way, sell this item to our panel.

3. Prepare a verse and chorus of any song of their choice (to be sung accompanied or unaccompanied). If an applicant chooses to sing and would like our pianist to play for them, they should bring along the appropriate sheet music.

All High school applicants will also cover Movement with our Choreographer to assess ability (beginner, intermediate or advanced).

Musical Theatre Masterclass Auditions age S4-S6 and over only

Musical Theatre Masterclass applicants should prepare a verse and chorus of any song of their choice (to be sung accompanied).

Applicants should bring along the appropriate sheet music marked up and in the correct key.

About the Musical Theatre Masterclass

This Masterclass is an Intense Musical Theatre course. Placement for Masterclass should only be considered by applicants with a keen interest in Musical Theatre, a strong singing ability and who wish to carve out a career in Musical Theatre.

Masterclass students will take part in all UKTheatreSchool productions and be involved in intense Audition Preparation classes for access to further education performing arts establishments.

This course has a high success rate for top London schools.

Please note: Musical Theatre Masterclass is a part-time course of up to 11 hours per week. Masterclass provides a solid platform for young talent, by allowing eligible students to enhance their skills and therefore; begin their journey into the performing arts industry with a solid foundation.

In addition to developing technical skills in the areas of voice, acting and movement, each student will also learn core and fundamental performing skills that will be necessary to maximise their potential under performance conditions. Course content will include intensive vocal coaching, dance and physical theatre, script work and audition preparation amongst other disciplines.

These students will be given the opportunity to perform to audiences, allowing each to demonstrate their skills in all disciplines. Continual assessment will allow each student's progress to be monitored throughout the session to ensure that the high standards enforced by the course are maintained. With both one-on-one and group tuition, students will be exposed to different and demanding environments that will allow them to break down any personal and inter-personal barriers that may inhibit them in this dynamic and challenging industry.

It is important for the students to be aware of the industry they wish to embark upon, and so commitment and motivation will also be closely monitored to guarantee the student applies the correct attitude to all areas, whether it be in attendance, tuition, audition etc. It is therefore; essential to indicate this course is aimed solely at dedicated students who have a genuine interest in pursuing a career within the performing arts.

The course will be led by Chris J Stuart-Wilson and Luis Garcia but will involve guest tutors and therefore expose the students to a varied education.

Masterclass classes will run each Tuesday and Wednesday evening covering Acting classes, Acting through song, Acting for Film & Television, Singing Lessons, Vocal Coaching and Tutorials and will include RAD Ballet technique lessons each Saturday afternoon.

Costs & Commitment

The Masterclass Course costs cover all tuition plus all shows. Masterclass students must commit to the full course running from August to June as well as all UKTheatreSchool productions and events (where required).

The Musical Theatre Masterclass students are also invited to travel to London each January for a weekend of luxury at one of the beautiful Hilton Hotels, West End Shows and backstage tours (arranged by some of our very successful former Masterclass students who are currently working on West End shows).

Previous London Trip – 2007/08 Students

Masterclass 2007/08 travelled in style with British Airways from Glasgow to London Heathrow. They stayed at the very prestigious Hilton Metropole Hotel in gorgeous suites and seen Wicked at the Apollo and Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre.
